Fees & Timescales

We know that instructing a solicitor can be a daunting prospect. We will:-

1. Provide a written estimate of costs in all cases. This will take the form of a breakdown of our fees and expenses (known as disbursements) in matters such as domestic conveyancing or Will drafting.
In cases where it is more difficult to identify at the outset the precise amount of work to be undertaken (for example court work) we will provide written estimates – setting out a range of anticipated costs depending on whether the case settles or proceeds to trial.

2. We are able to accept payment by credit/debit card (a small surcharge of 2.5% applies). We charge on the basis of the amount of time spent on your matter. Our fee in probate cases is not calculated by reference to the value of the Estate.

3. We will advise you as to whether you are eligible for legal aid or “no win no fee” arrangements.

4. In court work cases we will discuss with you a flexible means of payment including:-
(a) Interim billing and payment by installments via banker’s Standing Order.
(b) Whether loans are available to meet your fees.
(c) We will also discuss with you whether insurance is available to protect against the risk of an Order that you bear your opponent’s costs.

5. Provide you in each case with our “best estimate” as to the likely timescale for completion of your instruction.

We try to provide our clients with sound legal advice quickly and with transparent and fair prices.

We are able to offer specialist advice.
